What Can I Do About Curry Odors?

Wash the cabinets and backsplash thoroughly. Typically there are five cabinets–two base cabinets on either side of the stove, and the three wall cabinets above and on either side of stove. Make sure to clean really well under the wall cabinets and the sides of the base cabinets–you’ll need to slide the range out if that is the appliance in the house.

The microwave or vent hood probably need to be thrown out since the cooking oil gets into the venting channels and the odor will never be gone if the source of the odor, the cooking oil with turmeric, remains. Vent hoods may be able to be cleaned.

If the smell persists, some people paint to cover up the odors. Typically this will not be effective; call us before painting. Priming and painting over odors makes it much more difficult to reach the original source odor to eliminate the odor. We can help even after painting, but for best results, call before painting.
